Temasek invested $85 M in India’s healthtech Molbio Diagnostics
Temasek has invested US $85 million in the healthtech business Molbio Diagnostics, which is located in India.
Molbio creates portable devices that may detect a range of illnesses, including tuberculosis (TB), hepatitis, HIV, dengue, and malaria. The company was founded in 2011 by Sriram Natarajan and Chandrasekhar Nair. According to a release, it can also carry out real-time PCR testing for Covid-19 detection.
The World Health Organization has approved the gadget as a replacement for smear microscopy in the diagnosis of tuberculosis, and the Indian government has already deployed it to more than 5,000 testing facilities in 40 nations.
Molbio intends to use the additional money for product development and international growth.
“We see the partnership with Temasek accelerating our efforts to work on newer technologies that address the critical need gaps in diagnosis globally,” said Nair, who is also the CTO and director of Molbio.
