This week tech giant, Microsoft is poised to fire hundreds of workers from its engineering departments, according to Bloomberg, which cited a source familiar with the situation.
The source claimed that the change will impact more than 1% of Microsoft’s 200,000 workers without providing any more information.
According to a Sky News story, the US-based company would lay off 10,000 workers, or around 5% of its workforce.
If layoffs are implemented, Microsoft will follow similar steps taken by other multinational corporations like Facebook, Amazon, and Salesforce, who have eliminated 36,000 employees in total.
Microsoft recently said that it will integrate ChatGPT, an intelligent chatbot from OpenAI, into its app development platform, Azure OpenAI Service.
