Google launches accelerator programme for ONDC, empowering Indian startups in e-commerce

Google has recently made an announcement about the launch of the most awaited accelerator programme for the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). The accelerator programme aims to empower Indian startups in the e-commerce sector. This launch comes as part of Google’s initiative to support India’s digital ecosystem in India.

Commenting on this, Will Grannis, Chief Technology Officer, Google Cloud, said, “We are excited to join forces with ONDC to help businesses of all sizes succeed in the digital economy.”

He further added, “Our accelerator programme will provide businesses with the tools and resources they need to build and scale their digital commerce operations, and we look forward to working with them to create a more inclusive and competitive digital marketplace in India.”

MD and CEO, ONDC, T Koshy, said, “By streamlining the onboarding process through efficient core APIs, this milestone addition to the open network empowers enterprises to focus on their core competencies.”

“The addition of Google Cloud’s accelerator programme reinforces the ONDC’s mission to revolutionise the e-commerce landscape, ushering in a new era of efficiency, agility, and customer-centricity,”, Koshy added.

The ONDC, introduced by the Ministry of Commerce and industry, aims to revolutionize India’s e-commerce landscape, by creating an open digital network for all stakeholders, which include buyers, sellers, logistics providers, and consumers.

In the accelerator programme, Google will provide a comprehensive platform for startups to scale their businesses, get access to new customers, offer mentorship, technical guidance, and support from industry experts.

As the program rolls out, experts and stakeholders from the industry are eagerly looking forward to witnessing the transformative impact of the Google accelerator programme for ONDC. Currently ONDC has its presence in over 230 cities, the number has significantly increased.
