Egyptian semiconductor startup InfiniLink raised $10 M Seed funding

In order to meet the increasing bandwidth and energy efficiency requirements of AI-driven data centers, the Egyptian semiconductor startup InfiniLink has secured US $10 million in seed funding to expedite the development of its optical connectivity solutions.
InfiniLink is a cutting-edge semiconductor startup that was founded in 2022 and specializes in cutting-edge optical data connectivity chips for AI-driven data centers. Traditional electrical and optical interconnects are reaching their power and scalability limits as a result of the exponential increase in bandwidth demands caused by AI workloads and data-intensive applications.
High-bandwidth-density co-packaged optical engines (CPO) and low-power pluggable transceiver modules are made possible by the company’s innovative Silicon Photonics integrated optical transceiver chiplets (iOTC) technology, which tackles these issues. For the upcoming generation of AI-driven data centers, these solutions offer ultra-high-speed, energy-efficient data connectivity.
A US$10 million seed funding round led by Saudi VC firm Sukna Ventures and top fabless semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek has been successfully closed, according to InfiniLink. Additionally, M Empire Angels and Egypt Ventures participated.
With the help of the funding, the company will be able to further its goal of revolutionizing data center connectivity by utilizing its extensive knowledge of photonics and analog mixed signals.
“Collaborating with MediaTek will be instrumental in advancing our vision for cutting-edge optical connectivity solutions,” said Ahmed Aboul-Ella, co-founder and CEO of InfiniLink. “With this strategic partnership, we look forward to accelerating the commercialisation of our innovative technologies. We believe it will make a significant impact on data center optical connectivity.”
MediaTek senior general manager George Chien expressed his excitement at being a part of InfiniLink’s journey.
“Over the past three years, our partnership has been very successful, culminating in the establishment of MediaTek Egypt. We look forward to further scaling our collaboration in the region with this investment,” he said.
“Their groundbreaking optical connectivity technology, engineered by an exceptionally skilled team, addresses AI’s relentless energy demands in data centres. This innovation perfectly aligns with our mandate to empower high-potential startups from the MENA region, and we are committed to supporting their international scaling efforts,” said Waleed Alballaa, general partner at Sukna Ventures.
“With the combined expertise of our investors, we are well-positioned to accelerate product development, expand globally, and meet the surging demand for AI-driven connectivity solutions.”
