Vietnam’s G-Group to invest $300 M constructing AI data center campus in Hanoi

Vietnam’s G-Group Technology Corporation will invest VND7.6 trillion ($300 million) to develop G-Campus Hoa Lac, a high-tech campus and Tier III data center complex dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC).
In a statement released on Tuesday, the company said it received the investment certificate for the project during Hanoi’s investment promotion conference held a day earlier.
Spanning more than 38,000 square meters, G-Campus will feature four functional zones covering the high-tech value chain. Two of the zones will be dedicated to research, development, testing, and design in areas including AI, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), high-performance computing, and cybersecurity. The other two zones will house a Tier III data center designed to support AI and HPC workloads, with an initial IT power capacity of 20 megawatts (MW).
Following future expansion, the facility’s total capacity is expected to increase to 30 MW, enabling it to provide data infrastructure, cloud computing, and AI and HPC services to both domestic and international customers.
Phung Anh Tuan, Chairman of G-Group, said G-Campus is intended to support Hanoi’s transition into the AI era by providing a platform for research, technology development, digital transformation, and large-scale AI applications.
Alongside receiving the investment certificate, G-Group also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hanoi People’s Committee and OTECH, a subsidiary of Oman-based ICT solutions provider Omantel Group. Under the partnership, the three parties will collaborate on next-generation AI data center models, cloud infrastructure, high-performance and GPU computing, data services, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives.
As part of the agreement, the Hanoi People’s Committee will facilitate demand from government agencies and support strategic technology projects. OTECH will contribute expertise in operating national-scale data infrastructure, sovereign cloud governance, and capital planning, while G-Group will oversee project investment, technical implementation, operations, and commercialization in Vietnam.
The investment aligns with Hanoi’s long-term digital development strategy, which aims to achieve at least four IoT connections per resident by 2030 and establish a digital government powered by big data and AI by 2035. These ambitions are expected to drive demand for at least two hyperscale data centers, along with specialized AI and edge data centers in the capital.
