NASSCOM 10,000 Startups announces Retail Tech Day 2020
New Delhi: With the aim to bring together the retail sector for a deep-dive on how technology is shaping the present and future of retail industry in India, NASSCOM 10,000 Startups and NIPP (NASSCOM Industry Partnership Program) announces NASSCOM Retail Tech Day 2020.
The two-day virtual conference scheduled to be held on August 3- 4, will bring together sector experts and leaders from across India and the globe to discuss the growing need for implementing tech innovation, vital for next retail horizon in the country.
The theme for NASSCOM Retail Tech Day 2020, “Transformation through Innovation” will deep-dive into hyper-digitalization, contactless operating models and other emerging technologies in the retail industry, via virtual, interactive and short engaging sessions.
Retail industry in India is one of the top five retail markets in the world by economic value. It is expected to double by 2024 and reach US$1.4 trillion. The industry is undergoing a significant transformation as a result of changing consumer behaviour, growth of organized retail and entry of multiple global players.
The opportunity for digitalization is immense with emerging technologies set to play a pivotal role in the retail industry. This will be even more pertinent as the economy looks to recover amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
Keeping technology at the forefront, the conference will aim to discuss several touch points highlighting the sector’s recovery during the pandemic, technology adoption, transformation through innovation and adopt solutions to mitigate challenges such as logistic and supply chain disruption, required for the sector’s resurgence post COVID.
Sharing her thoughts, Debjani Ghosh, President, NASSCOM, said, “Over the years the retail sector in India has seen an exponential growth fuelled by AI, digital adoption and an ever-increasing online consumer base. The current COVID-19 pandemic will accelerate the pace of digital transformation in the sector.”
“We will see newer business models, contactless, tech driven shopping experience becoming mainstream in the coming years. The virtual conference is an aim to bring together top stakeholders of the retail sector on one platform to discuss their learnings from the current pandemic and how technology can help them be future-ready,” Ghosh said.
The two-day conference will witness stalwarts from the Indian and global retail industry, Start-up pitches by retail tech start-ups, immersive discussions and virtual sessions to discuss the future of retail in India post COVID. The speakers include eminent CXOs and business heads from leading retail organizations.
