Cactus Partners intends to make 13–15 investments with Rs 1,600 Cr Fund II aim: Report

Cactus Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm, intends to invest in 13–15 firms over the next few years with a corpus of Rs 1,600 crore for its second fund.

Citing an interview with Cactus Partners General Partner Amit Sharma, Financial Express reports that the company intends to write initial checks of Rs 60–100 crore and mainly support businesses raising $10–20 million. It plans to syndicate the remaining funds with other investors and lead financing rounds with investments of $6–10 million.

Cactus Partners makes investments in consumer, business, and advanced industrial technologies. Robotics, semiconductors, defense, spacetech, electronics manufacturing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, healthtech, and vertical software are some of its main areas of concentration.

Thirteen companies, including Lohum, Bellatrix Aerospace, Kapture CX, Indigrid Technologies, and Brandworks, have invested in the firm’s inaugural fund, which has a capital of Rs 630 crore. In addition to taking part in follow-on rounds of current portfolio firms, it has made fresh investments in Bellatrix Aerospace, Showroom B2B, and Brandworks Technologies during the last 15 months.

Instead of pursuing high-valuation industries, the company continues to concentrate on companies with shown product-market fit, sustainable unit economics, and long-term growth potential. Additionally, Cactus Partners is assessing prospects in quantum technology and cybersecurity.
