Egyptian ed-tech startup iSchool raised $4.5 M for its international expansion
The ed-tech startup iSchool, based in Egypt, has raised US $4.5 million to expedite its plans to expand into six more MENA countries.
iSchool, which was founded in 2018 by Mohamed Algawish, Mustafa AbdelMon’em, Ebrahim Youssef, and Mohamed Nabil, provides live, gamified coding classes to students in grades 6 through 18. AI, VR, app, game, and web development are all covered in the curriculum.
With over 26,000 live learners, over a million training hours given, and over 10 million lines of code written by students, iSchool has become a leader in technical training, computer science labs, and working with 35 schools. These efforts have resulted in managing national-level initiatives in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Webit Investment Network, Oraseya Capital, the venture capital arm of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority, OneStop Capital UK, and VentureWave Capital, an Irish VC, spearheaded the startup’s current US $4.5 million funding round.
With this new round of funding, iSchool hopes to expand into six more MENA countries, strengthen its position in Ireland, take its business global, and hire more staff members in Dublin. Together with facilitating technological scaling for the online coding platform, it will set the stage for the gamified online classroom app service’s expansion throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
