Semafor was informed by sources that Microsoft is considering investing $10 billion in OpenAI, the company behind the ChatGPT app.
The investment, which will include more investors, will value OpenAI at around US $29 billion. Uncertainty exists around whether the deal actually occurred as planned by the end of 2022.
If this transaction goes through, Semafor estimates that Microsoft will hold 49% of OpenAI.
According to a recent rumour, Microsoft has been modifying its office suite, which includes Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, to include ChatGPT’s functions for customers who require assistance with chores like composing papers and emails.
