Spacetech startup SatLeo Labs raises $2.2 M Seed funding

SatLeo Labs, a space technology startup, has raised $2.2 million in a seed funding round headed by Unicorn India Ventures, bringing its total funding to $5.5 million thus far.

Merak Ventures, Java Capital, IIMA-CIIE, and investor Manish Gandhi also participated in the round.

The money raised will go toward expanding its AI-powered platform for thermal intelligence applications and advancing its thermal satellite mission.

SatLeo Labs, founded by Shravan Bhati, develops satellite-based systems to gather visible and thermal data from low Earth orbit. Its platform is made to accommodate use cases in the fields of climate monitoring, urban planning, agriculture, and defense.

The startup is getting ready to integrate its first thermal payload, TAPAS-1, into a satellite. Additionally, it has begun pilot projects, such as monitoring urban heat and air pollution in cities like Tumakuru and Ahmedabad.

With more than $42 million in letters of intent, SatLeo has grown to about 30 employees and is constructing a commercial pipeline.

Over the next year, the company intends to concentrate on commercial expansion, satellite launch readiness, and scaling its thermal data capabilities.
