Targeting MENA and Europe, Singapore’s Whale raises $40 M to reach $100 M in Series C

Whale, an enterprise AI firm based in Singapore, has raised $40 million in a Series C extension, increasing its total Series C funding to $100 million as it seeks to expand operations throughout Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

Whale said in a statement on Wednesday that the round was spearheaded by Japan’s SMBC Asia Rising Fund (SARF), the corporate venture capital division of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Hong Kong’s CMB International (CMBI), the investment banking division of China Merchants Bank, through a fund concentrated on AI and frontier technology.

Additional participants include Singapore Telecommunications’ venture arm Singtel Innov8, Hyundai Motor Group of South Korea, Charisma Partners, and Krungsri Finnovate, the corporate venture arm of Thailand’s Krungsri Bank, which is part of Japan’s MUFG ecosystem.

An AI operating system for business operations is Whale’s main innovation. Through its Business World Model, an AI model created to interpret signals from cameras, sensors, and auditory inputs, it can link digital and physical workflows. Whale oversees more than 600,000 edge AI nodes worldwide and provides services to more than 1,600 businesses in more than 45 countries in industries like retail, automotive, food and beverage, industrial, and financial services.

Its two main products are Echo, which analyzes sales conversations to find patterns among high-performing employees and create coaching programs, and SpaceSight, which processes camera and IoT sensor data across stores and commercial facilities to measure foot traffic, dwell time, and operational compliance.

Four other components make up the larger platform: Lume, which controls the distribution of AI-powered information; Alivia, which deals with intelligent agents and workflow automation; Harbor, which oversees knowledge and compliance; and Novus, which offers AI infrastructure and governance.

The company’s suite can function as a full-stack AI operating system for commercial operations when paired with SpaceSight and Echo. It may produce actionable actions at scale and provide businesses with a constantly updated picture of how their operations operate by utilizing the Business World Model.

According to Whale’s founder and CEO, Jerry Ye, the money will be used to enhance platform integrations with regional infrastructure, strengthen enterprise alliances, and scale teams internationally. According to him, businesses in all areas must transform unstructured operational data into intelligence that is suitable for decision-making due to growing operating expenses.

The ability of Whale to organize data from physical environments and transform real-world activities into actionable intelligence, along with the chance to integrate Whale’s technology with SMBC Group’s client network, was a major factor in the investment, according to Mayoran Rajendra, Managing Director and Head of AI Transformation at SMBC Group.
