Florintree Advisors led a new round of funding for Super Six Sports Gaming Pvt. Ltd. (SSSG), the company that owns the fantasy sports brand Fantasy Akhada, to the tune of $11 million (about Rs 90 crore).
Previous backers Mukul Agrawal (Param Capital) and Varalakshmi Enterprises (the GMR group family office) participated in the round as well. Around $20 million in equity capital has already been obtained by SSSG.
With the additional funding, the Gurugram-based startup intends to introduce a new brand that would concentrate on sports streaming, content, and analytics. Moreover, it will utilize the money to develop technologies and expand its business.
In a pre-Series A financing in September 2021, Fantasy Akhada secured $2 million from investors including Jyotivardhan Jaipuria, Harsha Bhogle, Sunil Sood, and Atul Kasbekar in addition to Prime Securities and Team India Managers Ltd.
Amit Purohit, Amit Bhardwaj, Ankit Upreti, Pratik Gosar, Sumit Jha, and Sahil Ahuja founded Fantasy Akhada in 2020 to assist users in creating digital teams of actual professional athletes. The portal provides players with fantasy gaming opportunities in sports like football and kabaddi in addition to cricket.
Competitors of Fantasy Akhada include Dream11, MPL, Halaplay, Crickplay, and Zapak.
